Director, Project Delivery

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for PXiSE Energy Solutions Project Management and Engineering function. This includes the responsibility for customer satisfaction, improving margin, and for overall management of projects from initial conception through project completion as well as planning and executing management and technical duties assigned to multiple projects. Assures projects are completed in a timely, efficient, and profitable manner while maintaining customer satisfaction by scope definition, planning, monitoring, and controlling all project resources and relationships utilizing Yokogawa procedural requirements.

 

PRIMARY TASKS:

  • Provide overall Leadership to Project Management and Project Engineering organizations.

Project Management:

  • Partner with leadership to set a clear vision and strategy for project pursuit.
  • Manage, coach and mentor the project, sales and business unit teams on the project pursuit strategy.
  • Provide Training and Mentoring to sales and business unit teams in North America and globally as needed.
  • Develop and implement a solid communication plan with the Yokogawa business units and sales teams.
  • Develop project management plans and structure of the core team required to successfully win or support a project(s).
  • Lead all internal and external project pursuit resources necessary to win the assigned project; and coordinating all available internal resources including world area sales, divisional sales, proposal resources, project execution teams, executive management and external local business partners.
  • Partner with the Leadership team and cross functionally on development of sales strategy; forging relationships with defined end users, partners and engineering contractors; having direct involvement throughout the project pursuit lifecycle including sales pursuit, proposal generation / submittal, and contract negotiation and then involvement with the project execution, delivery, start-up/ commissioning and final project hand off.
  • Utilizing a pre-defined project pursuit methodology including opportunity qualifications and screening, sales team assignments, communications planning, sales strategy developments, executive management involvement and reporting, proposal planning, competitive analysis, customer business analysis, risk analysis and mitigation, and pursuit success probability.
  • Understand and manage project pursuit costs. Being mindful of cost will be a key responsibility for this position and will include personal expense and global sale pursuit team expenses. The person in this role must be able to identify and eliminate unnecessary meetings, teleconferences and travel in order to contain internal expenses.
  • Maximize our Project Win ratio while winning at a price premium based on a differentiated business case and customer value creation and understand the overall profitability on project pursuits
  • Develop strategic and tactical steps throughout the sales pursuit lifecycle, leveraging the Strategic Selling Models endorsed by Sales
  • Manages all project planning; i.e., works with customer and project team to clearly define scope and ensure clarity of project technical schedule and budget requirements, performs billing and cash flow planning, manpower loading models; implementation plan with time lines, ensures complete understanding of customer needs by key personnel, shares information with team members; responsible for developing and maintaining required project records. Maintains consistent updates of project plan, budget and schedule.
  • Manages cost reduction on projects while improving customer satisfaction.

Engineering:

  • Manage an engineering section supervisors, engineers, and/or technicians. Focus on managing and mentoring lead engineers. Typical team size up to ~10
  • Forecast workload and assign team members to specific projects/tasks. Report monthly. Define remote engineering methods and promote use to minimize cost and manage peak workloads
  • Reassign team members between projects and/or engineering sections based on workload and skills.
  • Manage personnel requisitions, identify candidates, and interview in accordance with Yokogawa hiring policies
  • Review/approve timesheets, expense reports, and PTO/absences. Monitor/justify/minimize overhead charges
  • Track team member skill levels (strengths and weaknesses). Prepare for and conduct performance appraisals. Identify training needs, develop training courses, and define training plans
  • Identify and resolve personal issues with support from engineering / operations management and human resources
  • Monitor project schedules and perform quality gate reviews. Ensure technical quality standards are met and that change orders are properly identified
  • Review and analyze performance metrics (KPIs) and prioritize improvement initiatives
  • Review all lessons learned results from all projects, and ensure that key lessons are informed to all team members
  • Develop improvements to standards, templates, and tools to improve quality and/or efficiency
  • Arrange for training on new product features and manage response to technical issues, including those identified in the lessons learned meetings/database

SECONDARY TASKS:

  • Diligently monitors for unintended project scope creep and reports Change Order opportunities to the Project Manager
  • Demonstrates a high level of understanding of both basic and advanced process control concepts and technologies
  • Proactively enforces Yokogawa/PXiSE procedures and project work methodologies for all engineering activities. Participates in the creation and maintenance of PXiSE work procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry standards and emerging practices that apply to utility and to renewables in general.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the engineering builder functions and operator interface features of two or more types of Yokogawa/PXiSE control systems.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of Yokogawa/PXiSE products and proactively suggests value added opportunities to Sales and customers.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience: BS degree in Engineering or other relevant disciplines and 14 or more years of experience or MS degree in Engineering or other relevant disciplines and 12 or more years of experience. Work credit may be credited for a PhD. PMP Preferred.

Qualifications: This position is recognized as a functional subject matter expert and thought leader across the organization, and in some cases the industry, providing insight and possibly supervision to cross-functional teams. Additionally, must be able to work with internal and/or external clients in understanding their needs. The ability to effectively initiate, develop, and oversee complex ideas, design concepts, proposals, procedures, project and design reviews is considered critical for success in this role.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for collaborating on and maintaining Go-To-Market plan to drive significant growth through channel partners, End User, OEM and EPC’s within the large-scale (transmission connected) renewable energy development industry. JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for contract compliance, including all terms/conditions scope, financial, insurance, etc. Responsible for improving cash position of each contract within terms/cancellations of contract.
  • Develops and oversees project completion and site mobilization plan; i.e. ensures integrity of final system; conformance to contractual requirements, system acceptance by customer, delivery of specified system documentation and services; controls expenses and defines completion plans for personnel; ensures orderly transfer of project to Customer Service for long-term support; responsible for archiving project records, documentation, system tapes, and transfer of customer-accepted system with required documentation for warranty services and maintenance.
  • Serves as PXiSE’s primary contact and focal point to the customer during the project; i.e., provides interface between PXiSE and the customer, involves other PXiSE personnel as appropriate; prepares all required reports; arranges joint PXiSE/customer project meetings; ensures customers are aware of evolving system characteristics; resolves any miscommunication; ensures customer satisfaction is maintained; makes periodic job site visits.
  • Works with or acts as Proposal Manager on customer requirements; i.e., reviews RFP (Request for Proposal) and specification, coordinates with sales and marketing to determine scope of work and is responsible for scope definition, prepares and/or approves all cost estimates, develops preliminary implementation plan, may assist in the estimating, proposal, and sales process, controls final negotiations on engineering/construction project.
  • Performs various management duties; i.e., provides data for YCA reports; keeps sales and marketing aware of customer interfaces; ensures project team members have the equipment, facilities, training, personnel and authority necessary to meet their objectives; interfaces with Accounting, Purchasing, H.R., as necessary.
  • Depending on the project type and scope, the Project Manager may need to perform some of the engineering tasks.

Prior Experience:  Four (4) to eight (8) years in renewable energy or utility space with prior experience to have included some limited management of engineering/technical staff.

Must be willing to travel for job assignments, maintain a rapport with customer representatives, and be dedicated to quality, service, productivity and customer satisfaction.

Development Ops Engineer

As a Dev Ops Engineer, your primary responsibility will be creating, documenting and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and processes. You will work within PXiSE’s software development team to drive efficiency, quality, and productivity of software development deliverables. In this role you may be required to develop test scripts, write software test plans and specifications, deploy cloud environments, and perform other technical tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • PXiSE Support

The SCADA Engineer will support clients with their PXiSE/SCADA/Data Acquisition needs.  The SCADA Engineer will trouble shoot problems and provide supportive solutions to specific issues.

  • PI Data Base/Process Book

This position also will require working knowledge of OSIsoft PI and it’s suite of software in order to assist with monitoring and optimization activities. The Engineer will have to come up with creative solutions to various problems, for example, to automate calculations, etc.

  • Technical Expertise

The SCADA Engineer should have a well-rounded knowledge of PXiSE/SCADA systems. A thorough working knowledge of multiple brands of advanced grid control/SCADA is REQUIRED. Provide input and support for project proposal requests, feasibility assessments, review preliminary designs, provide statement of work details, review detailed system deployment data provided by customers, perform job walks, finalize bills of material, evaluate project schedule integration, review hardware and component procurement.

  • Plant Performance

The SCADA Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that each installation has an accurate, up to date as built PXiSE/SCADA documentation and that the client teams are current on controls issues. This person will be expected to optimize the PXiSE/SCADA system of each customer and establish procedures that will ensure continuous improvement of the electric system controls.  Responsible for field integration and system commissioning

  • Project Development Support

The SCADA Engineer shall provide expert advice on issues related to PXiSE/SCADA and network for any new development projects. Responsible for process documentation and delivery of lessons learned by project. Requires ability to matrix manage a variety of vendor partners for solution delivery.

  • Major Maintenance Planning

The SCADA Engineer will be responsible for assisting clients to plan and implement all major PXiSE/SCADA maintenance activities. Responsible for onsite customer training and materials. Participate in 24 hour support process.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:   BS Engineering or equivalent, Military Equivalent (Technical Specialist)

Experience: 5+ years of Grid control/SCADA engineering experience required. Direct experience with OSIsoft PI Historian preferred.

Qualification:
